On Thursday, Nov. 27, Algonquin College opened its’ doors to future learners at the Degree Discovery event in the DARE District. This new initiative emphasized more than 20 unique degree programs to help people get career ready.
The event featured campus tours and opportunities to ask program-specific questions, a student and alumni panel on why college degrees are a great option, and free application to bachelor programs via ontariocolleges.ca.
In addition to one-on-one support from faculty members in each area, the panel members from programs such as Bachelor of Engineering (Automation and Robotics), Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Bachelor of Public Safety, Bachelor of Interior Design, Bachelor of Hospitality and Tourism Management, and Bachelor of Building Science, added personal insight into the student experience and a layer of relatability for audience members.
College degrees provide a combination of theory and practical hands-on experience, including numerous work-integrated learning opportunities such as co-op placements and applied research. This well-rounded approach prepares graduates to be successful in their careers.
The event far surpassed expectations with over 900 registrations, and over 400 attendees, demonstrating a clear community demand and interest in college degrees.
