Get Ready for Fall Orientation with Online Prep!

The Fall term is coming up fast, so now is the best time to get prepared with Online Prep! Online Prep includes five steps that incoming Level 1 learners can take on their own time to become familiar with Algonquin College and its services, supports, and community.



1) Reviewing the 10-Minute Must-Do List. Students complete this online checklist to prepare for the upcoming term. This list includes logging into ACSIS, email, and Brightspace, submitting their AC Card photo, setting up their online bill payment, and registering with the Centre for Accessible Learning if they are a student with a disability.



2) Watching the AC Start Up Video Series. These prerecorded videos help familiarize learners with topics that will help set them up for success. Topics include:

  • Getting Started at AC and Quick Tech Tips
  • Achieving Academic Success
  • Student Experience
  • Health and Wellness
  • Creating Safer Classrooms for Black and Indigenous Learners (an updated version of the webinar from Taking a Stand: Disrupting Black and Indigenous Racism)

The recordings have been posted on the Orientation site under the Online Prep tab for students to watch in the days leading up to the start of term.



3) Registering for a College Essentials Q&A Webinar (Tuesday, August 17, and Wednesday, August 25, 9am-10am EST). At this live Q&A, learners and their parents/guardians get answers to all their questions about Algonquin College from AC experts who represent key services and resources. A recording will be available on the Orientation site after the sessions for those who could not attend.



4) Tuning in to AC Inside Scoop on the Algonquin College Instagram account (Monday, August 27-Saturday, September 5, 1pm EST) This daily interview-style social media campaign on Instagram Live introduces incoming learners to Algonquin College’s services and supports using a social media platform where students are actively engaged.



5) Signing up for the Virtual Mixer: Trivia Night (Tuesday, August 31, 3:30pm-5:30pm). Learners have the opportunity to make new friends BEFORE the first day of school at this live interactive game show where they will be partnered with other Algonquin College students. Each member of the winning team will receive a $50 gift card to Connections: The Campus Store.
