Four AC grads compete in Search Engine Optimization contest.

Wix SEO BattleThe SEO battle is on!

A company which includes four Algonquin College graduates has been invited to compete in the Wix SEO Battle, a competition that pits two teams against each other to see who can get their website ranked highest on search engines.

Marie Haynes Consulting, the company that employs the four graduates, is an online consultation start-up focusing on helping clients improve their online presence by making their webpage more search engine friendly.

“Marie Haynes Consulting specializes in diagnosing why a company would have a traffic drop,” said Summar Bourada, Content and Social Marketing specialist at Marie Haynes Consulting, and Public Relations graduate. “… basically, our team will look at their website, analyze all the technical aspects on a page, everything you can basically access, and give them recommendations on what we found, what they can do to better their site.”

When Marie Haynes Consulting heard about the upcoming Wix SEO Battle, they thought their company would be a natural fit. After applying to the competition, web development company Wix reached out to the group with an offer to compete against a second team.

The competition will see the two teams (deemed the Wix Lovers and the Wix Haters) competing against one another to see who can create a website with the highest SEO ranking by the middle of December. The catch: While the other team can use any website creation platform that they would like, Marie Haynes Consulting must create their website using Wix.

“It is a really unique opportunity because there are a lot of challenges” said Bourada. “And as a team we get to grow and work together and come up with a lot of ideas that can drive traffic.”

The competition will be hosted until December 19th with the winning team taking home $25,000. You can follow along with the current SEO rankings for the two teams on the Wix SEO Battle page, and you can check out the web page that the Wix Lovers are trying to promote here.
