What is your favourite memory from your time at Algonquin College? 
Algonquin College has provided me with many opportunities that have allowed me to grow in ways I could never have imagined. My favourite memory from my time at Algonquin College is going to the TIAC’s annual Tourism Congress. Being given the opportunity to network with students and industry leaders enriched my overall learning experience. I am forever grateful for the opportunity. 

What advice do you have for fellow graduates? 
The world has changed significantly since our first year at Algonquin. Although we may fear uncertainty in our careers, we are well equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in our fields – don’t forget that. Continue reading

Canadian Environment Week is May 30-June 5

Canadian Environment WeekIn honour of Canadian Environment Week (May 30-June 5), learn about the College’s holistic approach to sustainability, and how Algonquin College is working towards creating a healthier, more sustainable community.

Thirteen years after becoming the first college in Canada to sign on to the Talloires Declaration, an international agreement that includes a ten-point action plan for incorporating sustainability and environmental literacy into teaching, research, operations and outreach at colleges and universities, Algonquin College took stock of where it stands in its sustainability goals at the recent TEDx Ottawa Climate series. New AC Bursary for Online Learners!

AC Online BursaryWhen Algonquin College Board of Governor’s member, Audrey Lawrence, was a young woman attending teachers’ college, she received a bursary that changed her life. Now, she is returning that long ago favour by establishing a new bursary in her own name.

The Audrey Lawrence AC Online Bursary, which will be awarded to full-time and part-time learners in financial need, is being established thanks to a generous gift of over $15,000 from Lawrence. The bursary, which was announced this week, is one of the first of its kind in Ontario.

The Audrey Lawrence AC Online Bursary represents five separate bursaries. Two $6,000 bursaries will benefit full-time learners, with one preferably directed toward an Indigenous student. Three $1,000 bursaries will also be awarded to part-time students. Continue reading
