Orange Shirt Day is a legacy of the St. Joseph Mission residential school commemoration event held in Williams Lake in the spring of 2013.
It grew out of a residential school survivor’s account of losing her shiny, new orange shirt on her first day of school at the Mission, and it has become an opportunity to keep the discussion on all aspects of residential schools happening annually.

In celebration of International Coastal Cleanup Day, Ocean Wise and WWF-Canada are leading four cleanups from coast to coast. Make an impact in your community by participating in the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup at Petrie Island on September 15! Volunteers will meet at the College and transportation will be provided to Petrie Island.
This cleanup is organized as a part of Living Planet @ Campus, a national program from World Wildlife Fund Canada that was piloted at Algonquin College, and is expanding to college and university campuses across the country. Continue reading
