On Friday, Feb. 7, the Canadian Pork Council kicked off Super Bowl weekend with pork-packed snacks prepared by culinary students at Restaurant International at Algonquin College. The event served as both a celebration of Canadian pork and an opportunity to enjoy creative and flavorful snacks in advance of Super Bowl weekend.

The Canadian Culinary Championship (CCC) is an annual national event that took place from Jan. 31 to Feb. 1 at the Rogers Centre in Ottawa. The winning chefs from 10 different regional qualifiers are gathered to compete in three challenging and entertaining competitions: Mystery Wine, Black Box and the Grand Finale. To be crowned the top chef in Canada at the CCC is a career changer. The competition has yielded three previous winners from Ottawa.

As early-career professionals, the opportunity to build on their skills on an international scale in crisis simulation at the recent Model National Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) was highly appealing.
