Every year, Algonquin College celebrates the incredible achievements of its alumni through the Alumni of Distinction Awards. These awards honour the extraordinary contributions our graduates make to the community while achieving career success. Megan and Orion, Algonquin College students both heading into their first semester, were overjoyed to have the opportunity to march with the Algonquin Students’ Association at Sunday’s Capital Pride Parade.
After two long years, Ottawa’s Capital Pride was back in full swing with three days packed full of prideful festivities — the parade serving as the capstone on a wonderful weekend of celebrations. More than 50 Algonquin College students and faculty showed up this year to flank AC’s pride float, with many others showing their AC spirit and merging from the sidelines to join the crew along the way.
But for new students like Megan and Orion, the parade wasn’t just about celebrating pride but feeling supported by their AC community as they head into their first semester.
Today, Algonquin College kicked off the new academic year with a renewed sense of purpose and hope at the annual AC Vision event.
Scott Gonsalves, Director of Strategy and Planning at Algonquin College, emceed the event along with Sarah Gauen, Algonquin College’s Diversity and Inclusion Specialist.
“AC Vision is an opportunity for us all to reconnect with our purpose and why we are all here, understanding how our leadership is operationalizing our strategic plan, and explore the part we all play in our mission – to transform the hopes and dreams of our learners into lifelong success,” said Gonsalves.
