AC expert’s tips to stay safe in extreme cold weather!
Posted on Friday, January 5th, 2018
The words “polar vortex” almost seem part of the daily weather forecast … so we turned to an AC Outdoor Adventure expert for tips on how to protect yourself this winter!
1. Making ourselves warm:
Our bodies generate the heat that keeps us warm. Heat needs fuel, so eat and drink to stoke up your metabolism and get your fire going. Skipping breakfast will ensure feeling cold all day.
2. Layers on layers on layers:
We need to consider winter as having two seasons – cold winter and really, really cold winter. Just as you would dress differently in the fall compared to the summer, you have to dress differently for really, really cold weather. You need more than your usual winter wear.
3. Plan B: Be prepared in case something goes wrong:
Be prepared to spend three times longer outside than you plan – over dress just in case a bus is late, your car breaks down, or you need to help someone else.
