Evan Liko, a graduate of the Mobile Application Design and Development program, is the proud recipient of a Co-operative Education and Work-Integrated Learning Canada (CEWIL) Student of the Year Award 2022 Honourable Mention. Liko’s nomination and subsequent honourary acknowledgement are thanks in part to his co-op manager, Rowland Gordon at Smart Living Properties and Algonquin College professor and WIL supervisor, Adesh Shah.
CEWIL partners with post-secondary institutions, community members, employers, the government and students to champion work-integrated learning WIL. WIL experiences normally include an engaged partnership between an academic institution, a host organization/employer and a student. Each year CEWIL Canada recognizes college and university students that were outstanding in their co-op placements or other forms of WIL.
Many extremely qualified WIL students were nominated for this year’s award. As such, the CEWIL committee felt strongly about recognizing several additional WIL students with the designation “Honourable Mention.”
“We are pleased to acknowledge [Evan Liko] in this manner with a certificate that will be presented to [him], on behalf of the Co-operative Education and Work-Integrated Learning Canada, at Algonquin College during National Co-op & WIL Month, March 1 – March 31, 2023,” said CEWIL Canada representatives.
Liko expressed his appreciation for the rich learning experiences he had while in his WIL placement.
“I’m really proud to have received this Honourable Mention, working on the Smart Tenant project has taught me a lot of important lessons about working alongside others to achieve a common goal,” said Liko.
Liko also expressed his gratitude for the support of his colleagues and the mentorship of his supervisor.
“I want to thank both my team, for their hard work and determination to deliver our best work, and my supervisor, Adesh Shah, for the amazing mentorship he provided me in my time working on this project,” said Liko.
Congratulations, Evan!
