The Algonquin College Cricket Club won gold at the National College Championship last week — putting AC cricket on the national stage and bringing Canadian cricket to a new level.
The 6th Men’s National College Cricket Championship was held in Toronto from Sept. 6 to Sept. 8 and included 10 elite college and university teams from across the country.
After two tiring days Algonquin College came out on top in the championship final, winning against Toronto Metropolitan University by eight wickets.
Algonquin College student and team member, Jasleen Singh Saini, shared how proud and excited he was to have been able to represent the College at the national level and elevate cricket’s presence in Canada.
“We are very happy and appreciative of Algonquin College’s support and for giving us the platform to perform our skills,” said Singh Saini. “We really are taking Canadian cricket to a new level. I hope our success encourages other students to explore the fun of cricket as well.”
Congratulations to the Algonquin College Cricket Club for your outstanding success!
