Employee Family Assistance Program (EFAP)

Algonquin College recognizes that dealing with personal challenges can have serious effects on our employees’ health, well-being and personal life, as well as their involvement and performance in the workplace. The Employee Family Assistance Program (EFAP) provided by TELUS Health One has been developed to help you and your family deal with personal issues, tensions and stressful situations before they lead to more serious problems.

EFAP Services

The College has commissioned the services of TELUS Health One to provide professional, confidential counselling, support and information services for all of our employees and their immediate family members. Services include:

  • Counselling, via telephone, in person or email sessions
  • Health and fitness coaching
  • Support for traumatic events
  • Access to wellness resources including articles, action plans and self-directed help kits on real and relevant issues that focus on Health & Wellbeing, Career & Workplace, Financial Security and Life Events
  • Exclusive offers to various perks and discounts
  • Specialized workshops & seminars that focus on a range of work, family and life issues
  • Access to subject matter experts

Confidentiality

Preserving your confidentiality is central to a TELUS Health One EFAP. Their strict privacy policy ensures that when you reach out for help, you can feel confident that no one will ever know you’ve contacted your EFAP, including your employer and co-workers.

TELUS Health One protects your privacy by:

  • Never scheduling two employees from the same organization back-to-back
  • Not providing employer data that could identify you in statistical reports
  • Never leaving identifying messages at home or work
