About SLICE
The Strategic Learning In the College Environment (SLICE) conference is an in-person transition event for students with disabilities starting their first year at Algonquin. A free, half-day event, SLICE gives you an overview of the services of the Centre for Accessible Learning (CAL) and Algonquin College. You will get a chance to hear from and engage with upper-level students and professors and have opportunities to develop self-advocacy and post-secondary survival skills.

The Strategic Learning In the College Environment (SLICE) conference is an in-person transition event for students with disabilities starting their first year at Algonquin College. A free, half-day event, SLICE gives you an overview of the services of the Centre for Accessible Learning (CAL) and Algonquin College. You will get a chance to hear from and engage with upper-level students and professors and have opportunities to develop self-advocacy and post-secondary survival skills.
SLICE will be taking place in the AC Hub (2nd Floor, Student Commons).

SLICE 2023 Overview
Students will have the opportunity to participate in a series of activities, including:
- Opportunities to network with other first-year students
- Review of CAL services and supports
- Campus tour
- Student & Faculty Panel Discussion
Level Up Your Learning – Preparing for Fall Semester
The Centre for Accessible Learning (CAL) will also be coordinating a series of workshops during the week before college begins. These workshops will focus on developing skills in preparation for beginning your post-secondary journey. Topics will include:
- Assistive Technology at AC
- Learning Strategies – Top Tips for College Students
- Stress Management
- Preparing for Campus
- Taking Notes – Tips and Tools
- Time Management – Rock the Clock
- Enhancing Resilience
- Writing Effective Emails
All Level Up Your Learning sessions will be delivered virtually.
