Mobile Device – Film and Media Production
PC Windows Laptop – ‘Best’ Model – i7 is required for your program.
Film and Media Production is a BYOD program and all the software used is cross-platform between Apple and PC platforms.
Editing systems:
Option 1: One device for both on-campus and remote. The device will need to be capable of editing UHD/4K video footage:
PC Laptop example:
- Intel Core i7 or equivalent processor
- 32 GB or more of RAM **
- 1TB or larger hard drive**
- 15 inch or larger screen
- 1 full size USB port
- Dedicated Video Card with at least 2GB of RAM
- Windows 11 (Home, Educational, or Pro versions). Note: Windows 11S is not recommended for use at Algonquin College.
Apple laptop example: 14-inch or 16-inch Macbook Pro
Option 2: A powerful home system for remote learning and UHD/4K video editing and a cheaper, second system for on campus note taking and cloud based tools (such as an Chromebook or Notebook).
PC Tower example:
- CPU: up to 10th-gen Intel Core i7
- Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce Series or AMD Ryzen Series
- RAM: 32G to 64G recommended
- Storage: TB HDD + 1 TB SSD
- Monitors: two UHD / 4K monitors
Apple ‘tower’ example:
- Mac Studio
Mirrorless Camera:
It is strongly recommended that students enter the program with a DSLR or mirrorless camera. If you do not have one already, we recommend the following camera options.
