What to Expect
Algonquin College is proud to provide a diverse and dynamic student experience. Check out the highlights below to get a sense of what to expect as a student in the Paralegal program.
Success Stories and Testimonials
“The Paralegal program provided me with an in-depth understanding of our legal system and taught me the fundamental skills needed to provide legal services. It is a fantastic program to lead as an entry point into the legal field, as it provides valuable hands-on learning experience and networking opportunities.
After completing my field placement, I was immediately hired on by the Public Service Alliance of Canada. I have now been with the PSAC for over four years, and recently accepted a position as a Grievance and Adjudication Analyst. Upon graduating, I also wrote the licensing exam and am a licensed Paralegal with the Law Society of Ontario. My professional dreams would not have been possible without this program. I would highly recommend the Paralegal program to anyone interested in entering the legal profession, as there is such a wide variety of career options for graduates.”
— Kayla Minor, Paralegal Graduate, Grievance and Adjudication Analyst, Representation and Legal Services Branch, Public Service Alliance of Canada
“I am a graduate from both the Law Clerk program and Paralegal program. I thoroughly enjoyed my training at Algonquin College. I consider myself fortunate to have had the guidance and quality standard instruction from so many distinguished and successful practitioners in the legal field.
I am currently a licensed paralegal, and a member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario. I have my own practice and currently reside in Guelph, ON where I participate in Small Claims, POA, WSIB, and summary conviction matters.

Competitions
Durham Mock Trial Competition
Congratulations to the Algonquin College Paralegal student team who made it to the semi-final round of the Durham Mock Trial Competition! There were nine Paralegal teams entered from colleges around the province for this year’s competition.
The student team participated in mock trials and were very fortunate to have their trials heard and judged by Deputy Judges of the Small Claims Court. It was a great moment for the team to have a judge comment on how impressed he was with their advocacy skills and their bright future in the profession. Level 2 student, Elizabeth Dumais, won the Best Advocate award!
