How is the program structured?
The Office Administration – General program is offered each September and January. Students who start in January are expected to continue through the spring semester and finish in August.
Are there options to continue my studies?
Graduates of this program have the opportunity to enter the second year of the two-year Office Administration Diploma program. Students choose Executive, Health Services or Legal for specialization or they can opt for a double major in Executive and Legal Studies.
What would I learn in this program?
This program emphasizes the development of strong technical, communication, and human
relations skills. Courses on document production, spreadsheet applications, and the creation and design of presentations are part of this program. In addition, students gain practical experience through simulated office situations.
Throughout the Office Administration – General program teamwork projects help teach problem solving, responsibility and resourcefulness, creative thinking, and self-motivation. Decision-making abilities are developed and honed using case studies – both in practical and theory courses.
What are the admission requirements?
Students must have their English, Grade 12 (ENG4C). In addition, applicants are encouraged to acquire basic computer skills such as keyboard proficiency prior to the start of the program.
Do I need to buy textbooks?
The Office Administration – General program is not part of the eText initiative. Textbooks will cost approximately $1000 per semester.
Will I need to purchase a computer or specialized software for this program?
This is a BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) program. You will be required to have a mobile computing device meeting specifications outlined by your program (please see your program webpage for details). Note: Mac computers are not supported in the Office Administration programs as software used in this program will not run effectively (even when running via Parallels on Mac). You will have access to software required in this program.
