Can I apply directly to this program?
There is no direct entry to the Office Administration – Executive major. Apply directly to Office Administration – General program through ontariocolleges.ca or the Algonquin College International Application Portal.
Students who have completed Algonquin`s Office Administration – General Ontario College Certificate program, or equivalent, will be admitted directly into second year of the non co-op version of the Office Administration Executive major. Qualified students may elect to participate in the co-op version, two terms prior to the first co-op work term. Subject to availability.
How is the program structured?
The Office Administration – Executive is offered each September and January. Students who start in January are expected to continue through the spring/summer semester and start Level 3 in the fall.
What would I learn in this program?
This program offers extensive training in the areas of: document production using the MS Office suite; meeting preparation, event planning and minutes; domestic and international travel; research, budget documentation and mail outs; accounting practices; database and project management; applied office management; Canadian business and government; proofreading; time management; keyboarding and data entry; and effective communication.
What are the admission requirements?
Students must have their English, Grade 12 (ENG4C). In addition, applicants are encouraged to acquire basic computer skills such as keyboard proficiency prior to the start of the program.
Do I need to buy textbooks?
The Office Administration programs are not part of the eText initiative. Textbooks will cost approximately $1000 per semester.
Will I need to purchase a computer or specialized software for this program?
This is a BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) program. You will be required to have a mobile computing device meeting specifications outlined by your program (please see your program webpage for details).
Note: Mac computers are not supported in the Office Administration programs as software used in these programs will not run effectively (even when running via Parallels on Mac). You will have access to software required in this program.
