Internships

Becoming ‘Job Ready’

“The connections made during my placement will be priceless. The exposure to many different projects gave me experience I was previously lacking, and dealing directly with clients helped me to develop my communications skills.”
Krista Montgomery, MRBI Graduate, 2014-15, Interned at Employment and Social Development Canada

My placement had almost everything we were taught in school in terms of quantitative data analysis. I also saw what the impact was when suppliers didn’t meet deadlines, and how to deal with last minute requests from clients.”
Khadra Isse, MRBI Graduate, 2014-15, Interned at CBC Radio-Canada

Internship Requirements

Each student must complete 480 hours (3 months) of relevant work experience through approved internships in work placements and/or work projects. Internship hours may be accumulated part-time during the winter semester and full-time in the summer.

Students who qualify may have work placements in the private, not-for-profit or public sectors, conducting market research, public opinion research, data analytics, competitive intelligence or related activities. Placements may be located in Ottawa, Toronto, across Canada or abroad.

The progress of students in work placements is monitored by the program coordinator through contact with the employer and the student. Students who complete work projects are supervised by MRBI faculty or college staff.
