How long is the program and when are classes?
This one year Ontario College Certificate is offered full-time on campus. Classes are offered throughout the week and you can start the program in Fall or Winter.
Are classes online or in person?
Although this program uses a variety of learning formats it is specifically offered full-time, on campus, in-class only.
Can any of the courses be used as transfer credits in other accounting programs?
Yes, a limited number of courses may be eligible. Internal advanced standing to the two-year Business – Accounting diploma may be given. Please see the Program Coordinator for details.
Can credits be transferred to the Canadian Payroll Association designation(s)?
Yes, specific courses may be transferable. Please see the Program Coordinator and check the CPA website.
What experiences and learning opportunities do students have?
Students identify and apply business processes by maintaining paper and computerized financial records, such as entering purchases, payment, sales, collections and payroll records. You will employ commonly used accounting software and spreadsheet tools, while practicing the skills to work effectively in a variety of accounting and bookkeeping roles.
Do I need to buy textbooks, computer and software?
This program requires a laptop that conforms to your program’s specifications please see www.algonquincollege.com/byod for details. You will have access to college issued software and some course have an eText which is included in the cost of your tuition. Other courses may require you to purchase textbooks.
