Hear from Professor Joe Goldblatt, who, quite literally, wrote the book on Event Management. Joe is the author, co-author and editor of over 40 books in the field of events management including the first text book that is extensively used in higher education. Work-Integrated Learning
Read how students in the program planned and executed seven impactful events at Algonquin College’s Ottawa Campus on Nov. 28, engaging the campus community while raising funds and awareness for the DSYTC.
The funds raised by the students were generously matched by Adobe, bringing the total contribution to $19,602.85.
- Over 50% of this degree program is event-focused
- Get connected with industry and start building your network during 2 paid co-op placements (local, national or international)
- Students learn to plan and execute in-person, virtual and hybrid events, and explore various digital platforms (web, social, video)
- Skills mastered include how to scout a location, manage entertainment, create and lead collaborative teams, and design events to achieve their client’s vision
- Students design, plan and execute an event each year from concept to completion, and in the 4th year students are linked to industry clients for hands-on, real-world experience
- Storytelling is at the forefront of our teachings. Through the lens of the guest experience, students gain skills to curate content and create marketing assets that have the ability to tell compelling narratives.
- Opportunity to study abroad at Munster University in Ireland for a semester
- Students learn from faculty who are experienced in the Event industry, and hold a Masters degree or a PhD in education
