Work-Integrated Learning
Students have the opportunity to act as consultants to complete an industry project where you apply your knowledge and skills for a real-world client to develop a comprehensive marketing plan.
Student Projects
During the program, you will have the opportunity to work with local, Canadian companies to help them with a real-world marketing issue that they are facing.
What is the project?
In a team, students act as consultants to complete an industry project. You apply the knowledge and skills learned in this program to develop a marketing plan and strategy for a local organization. At the end of the project, you and your team present a marketing plan to the client and your professors. You may or may not work on-site periodically at the client’s office throughout the semester.
When does the project start and end?
This is a second semester industry project as part of the Marketing Plan, Strategy & Consulting course. You will be linked with your client at the beginning of this semester (in May) and complete the project at the end of the semester (August).
Who are the clients for this project?
There is a selection of profit and not-for-profit, Ottawa area-based clients for this project. We aim to provide a list of options so students can choose the client they are most interested in working for, for the semester. Past clients have included small, start-up companies and also large national and multi-national corporations such as the National Arts Center (NAC) or Costco Canada. We look to have wide variety of client options across many industries, from arts to car dealerships, retail and online services. Each year, the client roster changes a little so the client options are always new, fresh and relevant.
