Marketing students place fourth overall at 2024 Ontario Colleges’ Marketing Competition
This past weekend, the Algonquin College case competition team ventured to Windsor to compete in this year’s Ontario Colleges’ Marketing Competition’s (OCMC), hosted by Saint Clair College.
The Algonquin College student team worked incredibly hard over the past several months practicing for several hours a week with their coaches in addition to weekly team meetings. They honed their case analysis skills, presentation style and practiced applying industry concepts to real world situations under a tight timeline. Think half an hour to read a case, analyze the business issue, develop alternatives leading to a recommendation and create a 15-minute presentation supported by PowerPoint slides! We are proud of their dedication and accomplishment.
Algonquin College came in fourth place overall and this marks the fifth year in a row that the team has finished in the top five.
This year’s 17 students came from the Business – Marketing 2-year Diploma and Business Administration – Marketing 3-year Advanced Diploma. See below for a list of the students and their respective events.
A heartfelt thank you also goes out to the dedicated faculty and alumni coaching team led by Craig Flinn and Melanie Haskins; our budget lead and faculty coach Patrick Charlton; and faculty coaches Sean Howe, Stephen Gagne, Brent Winsor, Sagar Vora and Catrina McBride. Alumni coaches Alex Frangione, Brenden McBride, Anastasia Naleykina, Jon Hindo, Emily Robinson, Samantha Donaldson-Scharf and Jamie Miller are the foundation of our team’s ongoing success.
This two-day competition is a showcase of the province’s top marketing students and future business leaders, with over 300 participants from 13 colleges competing in events that test their marketing expertise in a variety of categories. Students present marketing solutions to industry professionals from local businesses and organizations.
