Brightspace Symposium – February 27, 2020

Brightspace Symposium, in partnership with brightspace by D2L and Zoom, on Thursday 27th February at Algonquin College

The Learning and Teaching Services team invites faculty to participate in the Brightspace Symposium, to be held at the Ottawa Campus on Thursday, February 27th, 2020. The goal of the event is to create visions for effective teaching and learning in Brightspace, by showcasing faculty successes and highlighting additional features and integrations in the system. The winners of our recent So You Think You Can Brightspace contest will be among the presenters, and we will also have some interactive sessions and a student panel. 8:30 am Welcome, introduction to the event
8:45 am Kickoff activity and The Future of Brightspace at AC – Hear about the initiatives that we already have planned, share your thoughts on what should be prioritized, and learn about Season 2 of the So You Think You Can Brightspace contest.
10:00 am So You Think You Can Brightspace – The winners of last semesters’ contest will show off their courses, providing insights, approaches and tips around content organization and design. We’ll also see some non-teaching uses of Brightspace, for community building and progress tracking.
11:00 am The Zoom Classroom – An exciting live demo of the recently integrated video conferencing platform, delivered by Zoom’s Customer Success Manager, followed by a Q&A opportunity.
12:00 pm Lunch, A152
1:00 pm Student Panel – A group of Algonquin College students discuss some of the Brightspace features and faculty approaches that they most appreciate, followed by an opportunity for questions from the audience.
