The global Juniper Networks Academic Alliance (JNAA) program in partnership with CENGN and the University of Ottawa is offering students the opportunity to be come JNCIA trained and certified – for FREE.
This program is being offered at no cost to post secondary students and faculty. The course has been designed for networking, engineering, and computer science students with beginner/intermediate knowledge of networking.
The first three days are Juniper instructor-led training that combines content from the Introduction to the Junos Operating System (IJOS) and Junos Routing Essentials (JRE) classes to provide students with an understanding of the Junos OS, networking fundamentals, and basic routing and switching. On the fourth day students will take the JNCIA-Junos certification exam, one of the fastest growing networking certifications in the industry.

TEDxAlgonquin* is happening in less than a month! A lot of preparations are needed to make this event successful…including building the set design for the stage. The AC Hub hosted an information planning session on Oct. 16 for interested students to learn more and brainstorm ideas for the set design. What better way to engage our college students than to host a set design competition? This is a fantastic opportunity for students to showcase their creativity and design skills for an event that reflects the spirit of the world renowned TED talks series.

On September 24-25, Applied Research and Innovation sponsored the ‘Internet of Things 613’ conference on behalf of Algonquin College.
Interactive Media Design student, Jordan Koski, at the ARI booth which featured projects such as RCbenchmark and Carrot to show visitors at the IoT 613 conference.
Probably the most significant thing about the ‘Internet of Things’ conference is the buzzword itself. Rob Woodbridge, moderator of the ‘Future of IoT’ panel discussion, summed up IoT as the term that encompasses what has been going on for quite some time, including embedded computing, wireless communications, mobile apps and of course the internet. What is new is that the threshold for entry has been made extremely low in terms of cost, ubiquity and ease of use. The cost of broadband internet access and device technology are way down, and smart phone penetration is way up. Read more >
