Capabilities

Comprehensive Equipment

The lab features an equipment rack, workbenches, and a suite of essential tools including a spectrum analyzer. Our setup is continuously updated with the latest technology to meet the needs of each new project.

High-Speed Fiber Network

Currently, our lab boasts a robust 10Gbps XGS-PON Ciena commercial fiber broadband access network. This includes a 5144 router, uOLT SFPs, PON splitters, and ONUs, ensuring seamless connectivity for all research activities.

Next-Gen 5G Infrastructure

A research-quality 5G core and radio access network is established in the lab, utilizing open-source software solutions such as free5GC, Open Air Interface 5G, and UERANSIM. This setup allows for cutting-edge experimentation in next-generation wireless technology.

Software Defined Radio (SDR)

The lab is equipped with SDR technology from Ettus Research and Lime Microsystems, enabling flexible and programmable wireless research.

WiFi 7 Capabilities

With access points and cards from various vendors, the lab is at the forefront of WiFi 7 technology, providing enhanced wireless performance and connectivity.

Connectivity and Expansion

The B374 lab is designed with extensive connectivity options, including power, data, and RF connections to a rooftop antenna and base-station mount. Additional mounts and connections are located in the A, E, T, and CA buildings, which currently house WiMAX and 60GHz fixed wireless equipment, as well as a diverse array of cameras.

Future Developments

Looking ahead, the lab plans significant upgrades to transition its system to an operator-grade 5G cellular setup. This evolution will further enhance research capabilities and solidify the lab's commitment to advancing the wireless communication landscape.
