Although rich with insights, the platform’s potential is often overlooked by everyday users due to unfamiliarity with its tools. This project aims to bridge that gap by illustrating Open Ottawa’s practical uses.

To make Open Ottawa’s benefits tangible, we developed a narrative-driven video that speaks directly to diverse groups—parents, business owners, students, and community members. By using real-life examples and clear visualizations, the video guides viewers on how to leverage Open Ottawa for personal, professional, and community improvement.

The final video simplifies the experience of Open Ottawa, showing practical, everyday uses for the platform in an accessible format. With relatable examples, visual storytelling, and a call to action, the video positions Open Ottawa as an invaluable tool for empowering citizens and fostering community engagement.

Alerting and Monitoring Machine Learning Model

Our project offers Ideabytes’ clients a system that can predict future values and detect performance anomalies with a decent level of accuracy using a machine learning model trained on the client’s specific IoT device. Using this machine learning model one can find previously unseen patterns and trends within datasets and make predictions of potential issues in the future, such as efficiency degradation or potentially broken equipment. The end goal is to give users a warning beforehand to avoid potentially spoiling merchandise or causing interruptions in production efficiency.

Key results of the model include:
– Learns from previously recorded data without any human guidance
– Predicts future data points with an accuracy of above 70%
– Detects anomalous data points that do not fit within the anticipated pattern
– Alerts the user if data has gone outside acceptable thresholds

A mock environment was developed to imitate the production environment of Ideabytes for the model to execute within. This way, once completed, it’d be easily integrated into Ideabytes’ existing ecosystem and immediately available for clients without any headache.

HarmonyHome

HarmonyHome is an app for mobile devices, utilizing AI to improve tonality of text messages to improve communication in relationships with positive reinforcement and educational insights.

Shopper Rewards

It is a video to create a scenario of how a mystery shopper works. We have a story of two students one of them is a mystery shopper, and he explained to his friend how he can have a job as a mystery shopper. So we will make a short story of around 30 – 60 min for social media content.

Booking a Sports Facility

An application to allow booking of a sports facility. Administrators can add a facility, create time slots that they are available to rent, and add it to a map. Users can then view the map to select the facility they would like to book, see what time slots are available, then create a booking.

Lit3D Website Redesign

Lithophanes are light sculptures that are lit from behind to create a 3D-like image. We are focusing on redesigning and delivering a fully functional Shopify website to properly showcase the message of Lit3D. Through a redesign, we are prioritizing accessibility, establishing visual branding, simplifying the process of ordering lithophanes, and emphasizing the focus on the stories that come with lithophanes, rather than the product itself.

Regarding accessibility, we are ensuring that the website is user-friendly by complying with AODA AA standards and focusing on the website being user-friendly with multiple devices to ensure optimal performance for many.

For the brand guide, we have established visual elements that will represent Lit3D, which will help create a recognizable and distinct brand identity. Lit3D’s new website design aims to be more elegant, modern and minimalistic. This will be done by using minimal, subtle web design, primarily using sans serifs for a cleaner look and using a limited palette of colours that consists of gold, black and white. Additionally, we are working towards making the website more interactive, such as implementing hover states for interactive feedback and slow animations for the landing page for an enhanced user experience.

We will also simplify the process of ordering lithophanes by making sure that all pages have easy navigation back to the shopping cart.

Lastly, we are emphasizing the message of Lit3D which is prioritizing the stories and memories that come with lithophanes, instead of focusing on them being simply transactional products. This message will be conveyed by keeping web design subtle to not distract users from the targeted purpose of having lithophanes. The wording used to sell lithophanes will also consistently remind customers that they are buying more than just a light sculpture, but a memorable experience.

Referral and Sales Management Portal

This project aims to enhance a sales management portal by refining the system originally developed by a previous team. Building on their source code, we addressed missing functionalities to improve the tracking and processing of sales performance and commissions. The system serves both administrators, who manage sales and commissions, and sales representatives, who track their performance. The development is based on Laravel 10, MySQL, and PHP 8.2, and deploys on a Linux server with Nginx.

Instead of accessing project information on a site-by-site basis, with our Unified Dashboard, you can access information across all project sites, significantly improving productivity and decision-making for clients. Get all of your sensor data, project statuses, and cost metrics in one page.
