Interested in doing ‘big data’ research with Algonquin’s Data Analytics Center?
Posted on Tuesday, September 22nd, 2015
The Office of Applied Research and Innovation at Algonquin College Ottawa is proud to announce Algonquin’s new strategic research initiative, the Data Analytics Center (DAC). Building upon the College’s traditional strengths in IT and software engineering, the DAC will create new research and commercialization capacity in the ‘big data’ arena. This includes predictive analysis, machine-learning, classification, clustering, and decision support…basically ‘all things Data’.
The DAC is submitting funding proposals that will allow it to support local business and to reduce company partner costs in applied research. It will operate via collaborative applied research projects with industry partners. Projects will be comprised of students as well as faculty advisors and will serve the dual purpose of (a) helping companies solve real-world problems and (b) providing valuable experience and training opportunities for students. In this way the DAC aims to help alleviate the shortage of well-trained, mid-level IT personnel with practical skills in big data.
Algonquin’s DAC initiative has already has garnered the interest and support of regional businesses and post-secondary institutions. We now seek interested corporate partners. If you have plans in ‘Big Data’ as either an adopter or a provider, or if you could use assistance on data research, data analytics product development, testing, or commercialization, please contact:
