Pathway Explorer Profiles: telling the stories of high school Dual Credit students

Read some of the profiles from Academic Partnerships on some of the Ottawa high school students who take Dual Credit programs here at Algonquin College. The students get a head start on their college careers by taking credits in a variety of subjects.

Dual Credit students are high school students who have the opportunity to take courses at the college level. Some of the students are in congregated classes – meaning that they are in a classroom made up of entirely high school students, taught by a college professor – other students are integrated into classes with college students and a college level professor.

Dual Credit students have the opportunity to take courses in a variety of courses such as: marketing, construction, automotive mechanics, hairdressing, Canadian music industry, child development, culinary, and many more.

The Dual Credit program is a great way for students to finish their high school education while getting a head start on their college careers.
