How did you learn about the dual credit program? Who did you complete your application with?

I found out about the dual credit program through my school. I was in the SHSM program and basically they offered the top four students an opportunity to get a dual credit at Algonquin. It was my guidance counsellor. I filled out my application with my co-op teacher. Continue reading

How did you learn about the dual credit program? Who did you complete your application with?

I first found out about the dual credit program in Grade 10. Our guidance counsellor goes around telling students about career paths. I went through the course at school for auto mechanics and applied for OYAP. I found out through a class presentation. I did two co-op for two years — one co-op two years ago and one last semester. How did you learn about the dual credit program? Who did you complete your application with?

How did you learn about the dual credit program? Who did you complete your application with?

I’ve always been interested in automotive trade since I took it at high school. I’m really close with the Vice Principal there, so through talking with the VP and teacher and doing a bit of research through them, I found that there was a program I could take where I could get a college and a high school credit and be involved in the workforce at a dealership or shop. Through that, I talked to my co-op teacher there and she gave me more info about it. I knew I loved the trades, especially automotive, and I thought it’d be a great experience to try out. It doesn’t hurt to get a credit for college for free. I thought it had a lot of benefits to it. I filled out application with my co-op teacher. Continue reading

How did you learn about the dual credit program? Who did you complete your application with?

I was looking around shops in the area. I started in the shop I was apprenticing up at now a year ago in Grade 11. I was talking to them and they were saying that when they were younger there was a way to get in early. I asked my student services guidance counsellor about it and she said, “I could apply for you.” That’s what we did. I found a place of work. I worked on the application with my guidance counsellor. Continue reading

How did you learn about the dual credit program? Who did you complete your application with?

I am working with my Co-op teacher and he mentioned the AST Automotive Service Technician program and OYAP. He saw that I was succeeding in auto. My Co-op teacher and my classroom teacher asked me to consider this. I am so happy to have been approached. I am completing the dual credit application with my Co-op teacher. I hope to complete a full time apprenticeship in semester 2, at Donnelly Ford. Continue reading
