How did you learn about the dual credit program? Who did you complete your application with?
I found out about the dual credit program in a class presentation. I completed my application with Mr. Francey, my co-op teacher.
Did you attend an orientation session? What did you find most helpful about orientation?
Yes. I found it very knowledgeable. It was helpful to know how the program worked. The tour was helpful, although it would be best to know where my class was.
Do you think the dual credit was a good fit?
I liked their style a lot. This course kept me very interested in school because it was linked to an area of future studies. I am hoping to go into social work. I want to work with kids and youth.
How was transportation?
I had bus tickets to get from school to college.
How comfortable were you with the technology aspect of the course?
NA
What were the greatest differences between high school and college?
It was easy going, chilled and more relaxed, in terms of the washrooms, getting up and leaving. The teachers were very good about students coming and going. I liked to sit in the “spinny” chairs. The instructor was very encouraging. There was a great rapport with the prof. I like the style of assessment and evaluation. I like the conversations in the class.
If you needed to communicate with your College instructor, what was the best way?
I just spoke with Diane, our dual credit support teacher, for bus tickets.
Challenges?
It was Friday afternoon so I missed English/Religion back at high school.
But I got 92% in my Addictions class. I was very motivated by this class.
Would you recommend that other students take a dual credit? Why or why not?
I would highly recommend to students going into social work. The instructor made a huge difference.
What do you hope to do once you’ve graduated from High School?
After high school, I hope to go to college for social work.
Last Say/best advice
I liked it. It was a good experience outside of high school classroom. I enjoyed meeting people from different schools.
