How did you learn about the dual credit program? Who did you complete your application with?

I found out about the dual credit program through my Co-op teacher – Mr. Francey. He came around to do a class presentation on dual credits. I completed my application in Co-op.

Did you attend an orientation session? What did you find most helpful about orientation?

I went after the course started and they gave me a mini course.

It was kind of helpful… I liked the mini tour. I knew Blackboard already.

I only had a small version.

Did you think you were you prepared for the course?

NA

Do you think the dual credit was a good fit?

The program was a good fit for me. I really connected with it because I like baking at home. It was very interesting. I learned new technique and I am making new pastries. You also get to bring home the goods. I had to go to school mid way through period #2 and I missed Art, but it was not a problem

Did you require any accommodations? Were your needs meet?

No

How was transportation?

My dad drove me there and I took a taxi back. The college covered the costs and I had no difficulties.

How comfortable were you with the technology aspect of the course?

We used Blackboard online textbook. It was accessible anywhere. I was very comfortable with the use of technology.

What were the greatest differences between high school and college?

My best experience was working in groups. It was nice to work with others and share the workload. You have to stay focused and keep your mind on what you are doing. The workload was manageable. I liked the hands-on demonstrations. I like that kind of assessment. My best product was the Black forest cake.

If you needed to communicate with your College instructor, what was the best way?

I could email instructor at any time. I could see Margie as well. She was available.

Challenges?

I had to leave school mid way through period #2 on Mondays and I missed Art. No problems.

Would you recommend that other students take a dual credit? Why or why not?

I would recommend a dual credit. It was an eye opener. I am not sure what I want to go into. It is a good way to get started. I was highly interested and liked the college experiences.

What do you hope to do once you’ve graduated from High School?

I hope to go into Physiotherapy either in college or university.

Last Say/best advice

It was a relaxing credit because it was hands on and I am a visual learner. I liked learning by doing. Baking is a hobby I really enjoy!

Stay focused and keep your mind on what you are doing. The workload was manageable.
