Stuart Russell
CTO and Co-Founder, You.i TV
Electronics Engineering Technology – Class of 1995
Stuart Russell is the Co-founder and Chief Technology Officer of You.i TV and the creator of the flagship technology on which the company is based. Stuart’s company develops cross-platform video apps across mobile, tablet, game consoles, streaming devices and Smart TVs.
Early in his career, Stuart worked for a high tech company with a sales position that meant traveling. On one trip, Stuart’s team nearly lost a sale because of a function their product didn’t perform. Always eager for a challenge, Stuart developed new software for the device overnight to give it that function the client needed. Stuart began to see himself making a career out of his passion, and the industry saw real value in his engineering.
In 2008, during his search for a career change, Stuart met Jason Flick from Flick Software. They had an instant connection and founded You.i TV, combining Jason’s entrepreneurship spirit with Stuart’s innovative mind. The company took off with a mission: make technology fun and easy to use.
Getting You.i TV off the ground wasn’t easy. They built the company from nothing, investing their own time and money. Today, You.i TV builds products that help media and entertainment companies deliver the best experiences for their customers on every screen. Since 2013, You.i TV has grown 1000 per cent and now has more than 170 employees and over 10 million applications in the market. Chances are most modern consumers have used Stuart’s You.i Engine without even knowing it.
