Hydro Ottawa distributes electricity in the City of Ottawa and Village of Casselman, is the largest Ontario-based municipally owned producer of green power and provides commercial energy and infrastructure management services to large energy-consuming organizations. Hydro Ottawa believes that, in order to ensure its readiness for the future, it must invest in the next generation.
Hydro Ottawa is a proud employer and promoter of Algonquin College alumni. They employ graduates in their various trades and technical roles. Out of Hydro Ottawa’s 700 plus employees, roughly 100 are Algonquin graduates.
Algonquin’s Powerline Technician Diploma Program, the only program of its kind in Eastern Ontario, is a collaborative effort with Hydro Ottawa. To date, 191 students have graduated from the program, providing a talent pool for highly skilled journeypersons ready to meet the demands of Hydro Ottawa and its evolving industry.
Hydro Ottawa has been recognized as one of Canada’s Top Employers for Young People for the last five years. In addition to being a champion for our youth, Hydro Ottawa is a strong supporter of our community. Each year, Hydro Ottawa and its employees donate to local initiatives such as the United Way, The Ottawa Hospital Breast Health Centre and Christie Lake Kids. Since 2015, Hydro Ottawa has been raising money for the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario via its customer Go-Paperless campaigns.
