Loring Phinney
VP Corporate Marketing, Bell
Public Relations – Class of 1988
Loring began his career directly out of his Algonquin College’s co-op program. His career quickly progressed and three years later he became Director of Marketing for the Ottawa Rough Riders (now the Ottawa Redblacks).
In 1993, Loring moved to Vancouver to serve as Press Secretary for Kim Campbell and other Federal Government BC Ministers. Following the next Federal election, he transitioned to ‘agency life’. He opened the PR division of Cossette, Canada’s largest marketing agency before helping to build the sponsorship and sport marketing divisions. He never imagined leaving.
Then, in 2005, Bell called.
The Premier Partner of the 2010 Games, Bell recruited Loring as VP, Corporate Marketing and he began creating an integrated marketing program to align with Bell’s business objectives. Bell delivered flawless Games across multiple platforms, celebrating Canada’s successes from coast to coast.
Loring’s national role now encompasses Bell’s sponsorship and events portfolio, the market research function and the marketing of Bell’s Let’s Talk.
In 2014, Loring led the management and marketing of Clara’s Big Ride for Bell Let’s Talk, a grueling 11,000 kilometre journey across Canada by Olympic medalist and Bell Let’s Talk spokesperson Clara Hughes. It was a 110-day journey through 105 communities and 235 events.
