Students in Mechanical – Remote Learning Kits Fund

Within the School of Advanced Technology, the Electro-Mechanical Engineering Technician, Manufacturing Engineering Technician, and Mechanical Engineering Technologist programs have created a fund to support remote hands-on learning and applied research projects for students.

Under regular conditions, the teaching labs provide students with valuable hands-on experience under the supervision of experienced professors. Under precautionary measures, hands-on learning at the College is being minimized as a result of the pandemic.

In light of these circumstances, an innovative off-campus solution to conventional in-class learning is underway in the form of a take-home lab kit. This will reduce the reliance of hands-on lab activities traditionally performed on campus and complement remote learning activities.

This new fund will support the purchase of take-home lab kits that will be loaned to students to allow them to complete experiments remotely. Each kit will cost $250 and include a PC-based oscilloscope, a multi-meter, electronic parts, tools, a power supply, and circuit prototyping supplies – essential tools for our learners to conduct electrical experiments from home.

The fund will also help support students’ applied research projects by enabling the purchase of necessary equipment and parts.

Your generosity will help us maintain continuity in delivering our programs and will support innovative student projects. The education of our Electro-Mechanical Engineering Technicians, Manufacturing Engineering Technicians, and Mechanical Engineering Technologists provides them with valuable skills they will need as they transition to their careers upon graduation from the College.
