Mission:

Meals on Wheels Ottawa is a bilingual not-for-profit community support service that delivers nutritious hot and frozen meals to seniors and adults with disabilities to assist them in maintaining their health and independence at home.

Volunteer Position Description:

Meals on Wheels Ottawa is looking for volunteer Servers! Join our team of 400+ dedicated volunteers from across Ottawa and give back to your community. As a volunteer, you will support our program that provides nutritious food to seniors and adults with disabilities to assist them in maintaining their health and independence at home.

Volunteer Servers deliver hot meals between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday, leaving from one of 9 kitchens throughout the city. Meals are usually delivered in Server/Driver teams. Servers do not need to have a vehicle and will be paired with a volunteer Driver. In addition to delivering a nutritious meal, volunteers offer a safety and security check and a daily visit.

The volunteer commitment is flexible and is usually once a week.

Volunteer Position Requirements:

  • Police Record Check – Level 3 Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Orientation and training provided
  • Police Record Check
  • Heavy Lifting (more than 10lbs at a time)
  • Outdoor Activities
  • Interacting with the public / in a group setting
