Volunteer Position Description:

The IPBC IGNITE conference – held from September 18-20, 2019 is a unique opportunity for Canadian bookkeepers to collaborate, network and educate themselves in the most critical aspects of their professional practice.

Algonquin College student volunteers will receive a half-day conference registration on the day that they volunteer.

We require volunteers to help with the following activities/duties:

Registration:

Job Description:
• Pre-event
• Assist with setup of registration and moving of boxes to a locked area.
• On-site
• Distribute registration package (badge/bag etc.).
• Provide assistance to our delegates with the Event Mobi App.
• Respond to delegate inquiries and provide general information

Tuesday, September 17 2 Volunteers (13:00-19:00)
Wednesday, September 18 2 Volunteers (07:00-13:00)

Room/Door Monitors:

Job Description:
• Ensure only registered delegates access the session rooms.
• Scanning delegate badges upon entry to the session room
• Introducing yourself to the moderator and/or speakers in that session and discuss special needs/concerns.
• Ensuring the session starts on time.
• Helping speakers with handout materials, if required.
• Making sure the lights are at the appropriate level.
• Monitoring the door to avoid any “slamming”.
• Letting the presenters know when the end of the session is closed so they can wrap up (5 min warning).

Thursday, September 19 __ 8 Volunteers (8:00-12:30) 8 Volunteers (13:45-16:30)
Friday, September 20 __ 8 Volunteers (08:30-12:30) 8 Volunteers (13:45-17:00)

Volunteer Requirements:

  • Interacting with the public/in a group setting
  • Bookkeeping Focused
