Mission: Shelter Movers Ottawa is a volunteer-based organization that provides moving and storage services at no cost to women and children experiencing abuse.

Volunteer Position Description:

Movers are at the core of our organization, they do the hands-on work. Movers sign themselves up for moves ahead of time, work with a team of volunteers (movers, a lead mover, and a Move Coordinator) to ensure that a client’s belongings are moved to a new place. Volunteer movers can also sign themselves up as drivers for moves. Everyone has a role to play in ending violence against women – your helping hands can have a real impact.

Volunteer Requirements:

  • Police record check
  • Heavy lifting
  • Outdoor activities
  • Interacting with the public/in a group setting
  • Training is required
  • Must be over the age of 18
