Mission:

Our vision is that theatre is meant to be experienced by everyone. To do this, we partner with various organizations for youth, low-income families, and the hearing impaired to give them a chance to experience the magic of theatre, some for the first time!

Odyssey Theatre is celebrating its 34th season as Ottawa’s premier professional open-air theatre. Our annual Theatre Under the Stars series transforms Ottawa’s beautiful Strathcona Park into a theatre venue and welcomes theatre lovers of all ages.

We are looking for dedicated and enthusiastic people from diverse backgrounds who have a passion for the arts and are willing to work outdoors during the run of our summer production “The Bonds of Interest”. Come join a dynamic and collaborative team, work alongside professional artists and spend some time with Ottawa’s leading mask and movement theatre company!

Volunteer Position Description:

FOH volunteers are the patron’s first impression of the company, and play an important role in ensuring a satisfying experience for our guests. FOH volunteers are charged with essential tasks, including working concessions, box office, ushering, general set-up, and customer service.

Performances take place between July 25th and August 25th, Tuesday through Sunday evenings, and Sunday afternoons. Shifts are in 4-hour increments: evenings from 6:30pm to 10:30pm, afternoons from 12:30 to 4:30pm. We would also welcome volunteers who are interested in helping us on Park set up day on July 13 and Strike day on August 27.

We ask volunteers for a minimum of 4 guaranteed shifts – however, we are flexible, so any help is welcome. Those who complete four shifts can receive a complimentary ticket to the show! (Pending availability)

Bring your spirit, enthusiasm, and passion for the arts to help a great team bring outdoor theatre to Ottawa audiences!

We are especially looking for volunteers with a knowledge of American Sign Language!

Volunteer Requirements:

  • Standing for long periods of time
  • Sitting for long periods of a time
  • Outdoor activities
  • Interacting with the public/in a group setting
