Mission: The Glebe Centre is a not for profit long term care home offering services for both long term care residents and community support for clients living within our catchment area. We draw inspiration from our long history of excellence in care and innovation. We are a 254 bed facility providing nursing care and programs designed to meet the physical, psychosocial and spiritual needs of older adults living in our home. We advocate for a strong collective voice from clients, residents, families, staff, volunteers and community partners.

Volunteer Position Description:

The Adult Day Program at Abbotsford House provides clients in the early stages of dementia with a day of stimulating activities and opportunities to socialize and form friendships. Supervised, enriched activities improve quality of life and are tailored to meet the unique mental, social and physical needs of individuals with memory loss. Stimulation in the form of quizzes, discussion groups, games, crafts, sing-a-longs, chair exercises and recreational activities are all part of this amazing program. A nutritious lunch is provided.

Volunteers are needed from 9 – 3:30 Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. If you enjoy working with older adults living with dementia in a respectful, dynamic, safe and fun environment, please apply. Your patience, dependability, sense of humor and positive outlook will be appreciated. Volunteers should be available in summer months and if possible then in fall months too. English is the preferred language.
