Mission: The Ottawa Volunteers in Education (OVIE) program, part of the Ottawa Network for Education (ONFE), brings volunteers from the community to schools to help educators ensure academic success for their students.
OVIE recruits, screens, trains, and places community volunteers in schools, and screens parents volunteering in “high risk” activities, then match them to schools that need their specific talents.

Volunteer Position Description: The Community Living Class at Bell High School serves students with special needs.

Opportunities for reading buddies, games, art and crafts, caller for time bingo, cooking, field trips and computer skills. There are the maximum of 10 students per classroom. All volunteers assist under the supervision of a teacher. Bell would like to have volunteers join the program and share their interests and talents. They are always open to new ideas and they would be delighted to welcome you!

A RECENT POLICE VULNERABLE SECTOR CHECK (PVSC) IS REQUIRED FOR ALL VOLUNTEER POSITIONS. (Instructions on how to get a PVSC will be emailed to you after you apply online).

Volunteer Requirements:

  • Police Record Check
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
