Mission: Matthew House Furniture Bank, a registered charity located in Kanata, provides quality used furniture and housewares to those who are struggling in our community. Our clients are referred by social service agencies and include refugees, single parents, those transitioning from homeless shelters, and others who have lost their possessions. We help over 60 families a month.

Volunteer Position Description: Under the supervision of the Truck Driver, Driver’s Assistants deliver furniture and housewares to clients’ homes, pick up furniture from donors, and help move these items within the warehouse.

Volunteer Requirements:

  • Be able to lift 50 to 75 lbs
  • Adhere to strict safety procedures
  • Work well in a fast-paced environment
  • Be available for daytime shifts lasting 4 to 6 hours at least once a month, Monday to Saturday
