Mission: Matthew House Furniture Bank, a registered charity located in Kanata, provides quality used furniture and housewares to those who are struggling in our community. Our clients are referred by social service agencies and include refugees, single parents, those transitioning from homeless shelters, and others who have lost their possessions. We help over 60 families a month.

Volunteer Position Description: The Truck Driver drives Furniture Bank’s delivery truck to clients’ and donors’ homes, and helps move furniture and housewares within the warehouse, onto the truck and from and into homes.
The Driver is required to supervise two Driver’s Assistants.

Volunteer Requirements:

  • Candidates must: – be able to lift 50 to 75 lbs
  • Adhere to strict safety procedures
  • Work well in a fast-paced environment
  • Have a valid G Class Driver’s Licence
  • Provide a recent Police Record Check and a recent Uncertified Driver’s Record
  • Be available for daytime shifts lasting 4 to 6 hours at least once a month, Monday to Saturday
