Mission: ACORN Canada is comprised of more than 100,000 low- and moderate-income member families, in 21 local chapters of ACORN throughout the country, organized democratically through community organizing. We are Canada’s largest grassroots community organization for low and moderate-income families in Canada. We have won many important social justice campaigns like Fair Banking, Renter’s Rights Campaigns, stopping Disability Assistance claw-backs, Food Security in Gatineau, Raising the Minimum Wage, Internet for All, and more!

Volunteer Position Description: We organize in the field predominantly when many people are at home, but we are generally open from 9am-9pm every day. We want volunteers who can stick to and manage their schedule, leaders who are willing to work independently in a grassroots setting, willing to handle challenging and rewarding work to help our membership grow. Volunteers will have the opportunity to participate in direct action and social justice issues decided by ACORN’s current community leaders while cultivating new leaders who will spearhead our future initiatives.

Volunteer Position Requirements:

  • Minimum 19 years of age
  • Bilingual (French)- Asset but not required
  • Outdoor Activity
  • Interacting with the public / in a group setting
