Mission statement: The Ottawa Champions strive to be champions not only on the diamond, but in the community as well. We understand the important role sports plays in the Ottawa community and we try to give back as much as possible.
Volunteer description: The Marketing and Communications Coordinator will assist the Director of Marketing and Communications in promoting the Ottawa Champions in the community through social media, digital media and community appearances.
Major Responsibilities:
▪ Writing, editing and translating press releases
▪ Updating Ottawa Champions social media platforms
▪ Updating ottawachampions.com
▪ Responsibility for charitable events participated in by the Ottawa Champions
▪ Maintain organization of donation process and handle continuous donation requests in a timely and professional manner.
▪ Increase Ottawa Champions exposure in the community by increasing number of quality events the team participates in
▪ Oversee the mascot program including planning outside community event participation.
Volunteer position requirements:
▪ Ability to write and speak in both official languages
▪ Knowledge of Microsoft Office
▪ Strong organizational/time management skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, with a commitment to meeting deadlines
▪ Strong communication skills (oral and written)
▪ Work well as an individual and part of a team
▪ Commitment to integrity and organizational standards/ethics
▪ Ability to work long hours and weekends as needed
