Mission:

Ottawa Chamberfest brings together the boldest names in ensemble and solo performance for musical celebration in the nation’s capital, through its concert series, community engagement and education (CEE), and its summer festival. The world’s largest festival of its kind, Ottawa Chamberfest is a 2018 Festivals and Events (FEO) Ontario “Top 100” and winner of seven consecutive Lieutenant-Governor’s Awards for the Arts

Volunteer Position Description:

Ottawa Chamberfest is looking for volunteers to help with both front of house and production duties for our current Concert Series running from October 2019 – May 2020. The volunteer shifts vary based on the concert dates and times. Volunteers are also needed for our annual summer festival spanning two weeks in July & August 2020.

1) USHER

  • Greets patrons, artists’ guests, sponsors and VIPs
  • Checks tickets/passes
  • Assists with seating
  • Ensures aisles are unobstructed
  • Provides direction to patrons lining up for concerts
  • Answers inquiries
  • Assists individuals with disabilities into the venue
  • Helps with post-concert clean up
  • Reports to Front of House Manager and/or designated Supervisor

2) BOX OFFICE (WILL CALL)

  • Assists in setting up the Ticket Sales table inside the venue entrance
  • Distributes “Will Call” tickets (tickets that are picked up at the door)
  • Issues 3 Day passes to patrons in exchange for the relevant vouchers
  • Assists Box Office staff member(s) with processing ticket sales prior to a concert, if required
  • Provides direction to patrons lining up for concerts
  • Provides Chamberfest and concert specific information to patrons and guests
  • Reports to Front of House Manager

3) PRODUCTION CREW

  • Sets up and dismantles stage elements prior to and after the concert
  • Contributes to the efficient movement and placement of chairs, music stands and other stage equipment at the various concert venues
  • Assists with all venue logistics and pageantry
  • Carries out set changes
  • Loads and unloads trucks and vans, as required
  • Must be a team player and be able to follow complex, detailed instruction
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Previous stage experience an asset

Volunteer Requirements:

  • Must be a team player and be able to follow complex, detailed instructions
  • Standing for long periods of time
  • Physical tasks including moving equipment and loading and unloading of trucks, and heavy lifting, if required
  • Working in a fast-paced environment
  • Training Required
  • Previous stage experience an asset
  • Production crew volunteers will provide their own steel-toed boots to adhere to the Ministry of Labour Safety Standards. If you require assistance with this – please reach out to the Head of Production
