Mission:

Meals on Wheels Ottawa is a bilingual not-for-profit community support service that delivers nutritious hot and frozen meals to seniors and adults with disabilities to assist them in maintaining their health and independence at home.

Volunteer Position Description:

Meals on Wheels Ottawa is looking for volunteer drivers! Join our team of 400+ dedicated volunteers from across Ottawa and give back to your community. As a volunteer, you will support our program that provides nutritious food to seniors and adults with disabilities to assist them in maintaining their health and independence at home.

Meals on Wheels volunteer Drivers, using their own vehicle, deliver hot meals between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday, leaving from one of 9 kitchens throughout the city. Meals are usually delivered in Driver/Server teams. We can match you up with a volunteer Server or you can recruit your own partner to deliver with you. You can also choose to deliver on your own, doing both the driving and the delivery of the meal right to the client’s door.

The volunteer commitment is flexible and is usually once a week. Meals on Wheels offers mileage reimbursement to volunteer Drivers.

Volunteer Position Requirements:
• Police Record Check – Level 3 Vulnerable Sector Check
• Own Vehicle
• Driver’s Licence and minimum liability insurance
• Orientation and training provided
