Mission: No one should be excluded from sports. But for kids with autism, playing sports isn’t always easy. Sometimes, community programs are not designed to meet the needs of kids with autism. In other cases, financially stressed families just can’t afford to enroll, after they have paid for all their child’s therapies. Ausome provides an opportunity for every kid with autism to participate in sports in a program that meets their needs.

Volunteer Position Description:

We are looking for volunteers to support our Ausome athletes ( kids with autism) at various Ausome Ottawa sports programs. In the coming months, we are offering programs in basketball, gymnastics, soccer, PD day camps and many more programs! Our programs are offered weekly and are from three to four hours in length. Our kids need volunteer support to stay engaged in sports, to develop physical literacy skills, to enjoy social interactions, and to experience the regular life-enriching activities that the general population takes for granted.

If you like playing sports with kids and have an open mind, you will LOVE this opportunity!

Volunteer Requirements:

  • Police Record Check
  • Standing for long periods of time
  • Interacting with the public . in a group setting
