Mission: The Ottawa Paw Pantry provides temporary food assistance to qualifying low-income owners who are currently unable to afford food for their pets and may be forced to give up their pets without food assistance.
Volunteer Position Description: The Ottawa Paw Pantry requires an innovative Outreach Manager to help strategically raise funds for the operations of our organization.
This volunteer team member will be responsible for meeting organization fundraising goals, working towards reaching sustainability. You will be the one to manage planning and processes to secure pet food and monetary donations from our community and Community Partners.
The candidate will be responsible for:
- Co-managing a team of volunteers to assist with initiatives and event planning
- Plans (with direction of the Executive Director and/or Board) and implements fund development activities of the Ottawa Paw Pantry
- Accepts gifts from donors and assures that receipts and thank you letters are sent promptly
- Ensure that all events and locations are fully staffed with the required materials at all time, with the assistance of other members of the leadership team
- Attends all meetings of the Outreach Committee, and leadership meetings
- Assists in the orientation of fundraising volunteers, and committee members
- Maintains all donor and fund development records
- Works closely with other team leaders to create all collateral materials including, but not limited to, brochures, newsletters, posters, special projects, and annual reports
Volunteer Requirements:
- Fund development experience
- Highly comfortable meeting corporate and individual donors face-to-face, and conducting donor phone calls
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to persuasively present ideas that will inspire board members and donors
- Enthusiastic about fundraising, with the ability to lead by example and coach others while helping to improve their skills in the realm of direct fundraising
- Excellent attention to detail and strong math skills
- Police Record Check
- Minimum 19 years of age
- Interacting with the public/animals
