Mission:

The Ottawa Humane Society is a non-profit, community-based organization and a registered charity. We have a volunteer board of directors, drawn from our supporters and the community at large. Since 1888, we have been the leading organization providing a safe haven for sick, injured and homeless animals in Ottawa.

Volunteer Position Description:

The Ottawa Humane Society’s Volunteer Department is seeking professional photographers to help support OHS events. If you have experience taking portrait-style photographs, taking photos of events, enjoy meeting new people and their pets, are able to stage and capture wonderful family photos, as well as capture candid event shots, we need you!

The Ottawa Humane Society is looking for a photographer to take on some Santa Pet Pics dates this Nov + Dec.

• Nov 16- need a volunteer Santa and photographer from 12-5pm in Kanata
• Nov 17- need a volunteer photographer from 11-4pm off Baseline/Merivale
• Nov 23- need a volunteer photographer from 12-5pm in Barrhaven
• Nov 24- need a volunteer photographer from 12-5pm in Barrhaven

Volunteer Requirements:

  • must own all of the necessary photography equipment
  • must have experience taking staged, portrait-style family photos.
  • must be comfortable greeting and interacting with families and their pets.
  • must own all of the necessary equipment for a professional-style photography shoot—lights, backdrop, camera, memory cards, etc…
  • must be willing to provide OHS and clients with copies of photographs.
  • must have excellent communication skills.
  • must be able to work safely with a variety of animal species.
