Mission: Founded in 2016, the Ottawa Paw Pantry is a 100% volunteer run non-profit pet food resource established to help prevent the abandonment or surrender of animals when their families cannot afford to feed them.

Volunteer Position Description:

The Ottawa Paw Pantry is looking for dedicated volunteers to join the Client Relations team.
Working closely with the Client Relations Manager, this volunteer team member will be the Ottawa Paw Pantry’s ongoing point of contact for their own roster of clients, and will review and manage their file on a monthly basis.

Responsibilities:

  • Create a healthy, positive experience when engaging with our clients
  • Review and update client files in a timely fashion, keeping accurate records of actions and discussions with clients and Community Partners
  • Take ownership of arising conflict and follow problems through to resolution
  • Uphold a high standard of respect for clients, other volunteers, and Community Partners

Requirements:

  • A compassionate and judgement-free perspective towards poverty, income inequality, and their contributing factors
  • A willingness to engage through email and over the phone with marginalized and/or vulnerable members of the Ottawa community
  • Competence to build and effectively manage interpersonal relationships at all levels of the organization
  • Experience in providing customer service/support
  • Strong client-facing and communication skills
  • Clear understanding of privacy and ability to maintain client confidentiality at all times
  • Working knowledge of a smartphone and Google Docs preferred

Please note volunteers in this role don’t have direct contact with animals.

Volunteer Requirements:

  • Police Record Check
  • Minimum 19 Years of Age
